Stuart Ford is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of IM Global, one of Hollywood’s leading US based film, television and music companies with offices in Los Angeles, New York, London Beijing, Mexico City and Mumbai.
The company was created in April 2007, originally in partnership with German public company Internationalmedia AG. Its current shareholders are Reliance Entertainment, a subsidiary of India billionaire Anil Ambani’s Reliance ADA group, and Ford. Since its launch the company has handled international distribution on more than 100 Hollywood films, has financed and produced itself more than 20 pictures, represents a film library of more than 250 titles, operates a thriving sales platform for some of the biggest Chinese, Bollywood and Latin American cinema, owns a thriving music publishing company and has developed a fast growing presence in both scripted and unscripted television.
Born in the UK, Ford was educated at the Bluecoat School in Liverpool, and later obtained both a BA and an MA in Law from St. Edmund Hall, Oxford University. He began his career in the early nineties as an entertainment attorney in London before moving to New York in 1997 to join Harvey and Bob Weinstein’s Miramax Films. In seven years at Miramax, Ford filled a variety of senior roles including Co-Head of the company’s Acquisitions division and Co-Head of the company’s International Sales and Distribution operation Miramax International.
At IM Global as the company’s senior strategic decision maker, Ford oversees the company’s day to day production, financing, international distribution, acquisitions, marketing, publicity, financial and legal operations. He is a regular speaker, panelist and broadcaster around the globe on the subjects of film distribution and financing, the evolution of digital technologies within the entertainment world and on the evolving cultural and technological issues influencing the global film industry. In late 2010, the UK’s Guardian newspaper listed Ford as one of the 50 most influential individuals in global cinema and in 2015, Ford and his company won the prestigious Variety Award for Achievement in International Film.
